KUCHING (Sept 26): Richard Bada achieved his 21st Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma) goal of securing three gold medals for Sarawak today when he won the men’s shot put F41 (short stature) category.

He recorded a winning throw of 7.73 metres for the event at the Sarawak State Stadium.

“This is my third gold medal and shot put is my favourite event. My family, friends, and coach are the driving inspiration behind my success; and I am truly grateful to them,” he told reporters.

The 31-year-old’s teammates Teckman Mary and Abdullah Syawal Majarol, won the silver and bronze to give Sarawak a clean sweep.

They also placed in the same order for both the F41 discus and F41 javelin events held on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

“I am very relieved that we were able to bring honour to Sarawak through all three events,” Richard said.

The athlete from Kampung Segenam, Serian is now looking to compete internationally.

“If I succeed in representing Malaysia at the 2025 Para Asean Games, my target will definitely be a gold medal.

“If possible, I would also like to represent Malaysia at the international level,” he stated.

Richard also hopes to replicate his achievement at the next Para Sukma Games in 2026 by winning another three gold medals for Sarawak.
