Passenger killed, driver injured in car crash at Batu Kawa

KUCHING (Sept 21): A car passenger died while the driver was injured after their sedan car crashed into a tree by the roadside at Jalan MJC, Batu Kawa here in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement, a call was received at 3.42am and personnel from the Batu Lintang fire station was deployed to the scene.

“It was found the incident involved a single vehicle that rammed into a roadside tree. Paramedics were at the scene before the Bomba team arrived.

“There were two women inside the vehicle, and the team proceeded to extricate them,” said a spokesperson.

The passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The injured driver was brought to the hospital by paramedics for further treatment, and the operation ended at 4.22am.
