KUCHING, July 5: The management of a local pet shop has responded to public concern over the welfare of cats at its premises, saying it is taking immediate steps to improve the animals’ care.

In a statement emailed to DayakDaily today, the management apologised for the distress caused and acknowledged the concerns raised over animal welfare.

It said all cats would be moved indoors, while some would be rehomed as part of efforts to provide better care.

The management also said it is committed to strengthening its animal welfare practices and preventing similar incidents from recurring. —DayakDaily
