KUCHING: In response to a recent fuel supply disruption, Petronas petrol stations in Sarawak have commenced the receipt of additional diesel supplies on Friday (Dec 29).

According to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), Sarawak office, Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) is actively delivering the much-needed fuel.

“Ongoing monitoring and inspections are in progress.

“Inspections of petrol stations at various locations around the city of Kuching were conducted to ensure that the subsidised diesel supplies delivered by the oil company are fully received by subsequent petrol stations following the second bulk quota from the terminal for subsidised diesel.

“The officer is currently verifying that the station has received supplies according to the actual quantity, and we are concerned about discrepancies in the information, as coordination in deliveries needs to be synchronised due to logistical movements involving the entire Sarawak region,” they affirmed during Friday’s contact.

The ministry added that if any violations are found under any provisions of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and its subsidiary legislation, action will be taken under the same Act without compromise.

On a related note, PDB disclosed on Tuesday (Dec 26) that Petronas petrol stations nationwide were facing shortages in diesel stocks. The situation is anticipated to persist until Dec 31, with the company expressing regret for any inconvenience caused to users.

“Nevertheless, we wish to assure the public that we are actively collaborating with authorities and stakeholders to mitigate such disruptions.”
