MUKAH: Petroliam Nasional Berhad  (PETRONAS) continues to make an impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) by implementing community wellbeing and development initiatives for the local communities.

During the recent ‘PETRONAS Uplifting Lives: Program Ziarah Nelayan & CSR’ the conglomerate generously donated new school bags and stationery sets to 60 children whose parents are fishermen from Pulau Bruit and Mukah, as they will be returning to school next week.

Additionally, approximately 2,300 fishermen from the two areas participated in the ‘Safety at Sea’ awareness talk, organised by PETRONAS in collaboration with the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Bintulu Zone.

PETRONAS in a press statement on Friday said that the programme was held in partnership with the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM), which also provided relief supplies to fire victims, families experiencing recent losses, and underprivileged households in the region.

The contributions from PETRONAS and LKIM were handed over during a ceremony at Kampung Tekajong Community Hall, Pulau Bruit on Friday (Sept 19), which was officiated by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol.

In its press statement, it also stated that a similar event was held yesterday (Sept 20), at the LKIM Complex here whereby the contributions were handed over by Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine.

Both events were attended by PETRONAS Sarawak general manager, Norazibah Md Rabu and LKIM Sarawak director Mohamad Rizal Sahari.
