KUCHING, June 21: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today paid a condolence visit to Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri and her family following the passing of her husband, the late Datuk Kamil Misuari.

The visit took place at Nancy’s residence here after Anwar concluded his official programme in Bintulu.

Anwar said he wanted to personally extend his sympathies to Nancy, whom he described as both a friend and colleague in the federal Cabinet.

“I came to visit the family of a friend who is also my Cabinet colleague. I conveyed my condolences and prayed that the family will be blessed with patience and strength,” he told reporters.

Accompanying the Prime Minister during the visit were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.

Anwar spent time with Nancy and her family, offering words of encouragement and support as they continue to mourn their loss.

Kamil passed away in Kuala Lumpur on June 18.

His remains were laid to rest at the Samariang Islamic Cemetery in Petra Jaya on June 19, with family members, friends and well-wishers gathering to pay their final respects.

Nancy, who is also Santubong MP, has received an outpouring of condolences from leaders and members of the public since her husband’s passing. — DayakDaily
