MIRI (April 2): Police have arrested a local man in connection with a motorcycle theft at Mosjaya Commercial Centre here.

Miri district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said police received a report on the missing motorcycle at about 6am on Monday.

“Acting on information received, a team from the Crime Prevention Branch of Central Police Station (CPS) Miri led by station chief ASP Goldy Jangan arrested a suspect at 4.30pm on Wednesday at Jalan Gardenia.

“Police also recovered a motorcycle believed to have been stolen by the suspect as a case exhibit,” he said.

Mohd Farhan added that the suspect is currently being remanded at CPS Miri lock-up to assist in investigations under Section 379A of the Penal Code.

He stressed that public cooperation is vital in combating crime and urged members of the public to channel information on any suspicious activities to assist authorities in carrying out their duties more effectively.
