SIBU (Sept 22): Police arrested a 24-year-old man on Saturday for possession of 221 grammes of drugs, believed to be ecstasy powder, worth RM2,600.
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the suspect was detained by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division at a house located on Jalan Sentosa here at about 3.30pm.
“Upon inspection, officers found seven white plastic packets branded with ‘Juice Master’, containing power suspected to be ecstasy, packed inside a cardboard box.
“The suspect also tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, amphetamine, and benzodiazapine,” he said in a statement.
Zulkipli added that a background check revealed that the suspect had previous drug-related records.
The suspect is currently under remand to facilitate an investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“Anyone convicted under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act is liable to a fine not exceeding RM5,000 and a maximum two years’ imprisonment or both, along with police supervision for two years under Section 38B of the Act,” he added.
