Police have detained a 20-year-old man in Melaka after a 12-year-old boy claimed to have been repeatedly sodomised by him

According to the New Straits Times, Melaka district police chief DCP Datuk Zainol Samah said the man was detained on 25 December.

The alleged incidents occurred at a dormitory in Melaka, where both men were staying.

The suspect, who is unemployed, hails from Kepala Batas, Penang. Meanwhile, the victim had been residing in the hostel since April to make it easier for him to go to school, as his mother, a teaching assistant, lived in a nearby female dormitory.

The boy claimed he had been sodomised 30 times over an eight-month period, with the alleged abuse having first started in May this year.

According to the victim, the first alleged incident happened on 14 May, when the suspect woke him up at about 3am and sodomised him. The suspect was said to have repeated the act the next day.

"The victim claimed the suspect also took him to the dormitory toilet on 20 May at about 9pm. There, the suspect forced the boy to sodomise him. The victim complied out of fear," the New Straits Times quoted Zainol as saying.

"The incident did not stop there as the suspect assaulted the victim two days later in the toilet of the premises," he added.

Zainol stated that the boy did not report the abuse earlier as he was worried about his safety

Nevertheless, he finally confided in his father last Saturday, 23 December. The victim's father had then assaulted the suspect when he came to their home.

Following this, a police report was made and the suspect was arrested by policemen from the Tanjung Minyak police station.
