Police investigate all angles in convenience store arsons in Kuching, Sri Aman

KUCHING (Sept 22): Police are looking at all angles in their investigation into two convenience store arson cases reported on Sunday night in Kuching and Sri Aman, which involved outlets belonging to the same retail chain.

Bukit Aman Management director and Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah two police reports have been lodged so far, with one suspect already arrested in connection with the Sri Aman case.

“We are still tracking down other suspects believed to be involved in the arson.

“At this stage, all angles of the investigation, including possible links between the incidents, are still being examined,” he told The Borneo Post when contacted today.

A 36-year-old man has been remanded by the Sri Aman Magistrate Court for three days until Sept 25 to assist investigations into the Sri Aman case, which occurred along Jalan Kecil.

The suspect was arrested in Saratok yesterday.

In Kuching, a convenience store at Green Road was damaged by fire in a separate incident, though no casualties were reported.
