PUTRAJAYA: Multiple police reports over the purported Dubai Move have been lodged across 12 states in the country, says the senior political secretary of the Prime Minister.

According to Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, the reports were lodged in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Perak, Penang, Kedah, Pahang, Sabah, Perlis and Sarawak.

“I’m confident that more police reports will be lodged so that the police can start investigations.

“We need to end talks to change the prime minister or topple the government,” said Shamsul Iskandar to reporters after lodging a report at a police station in Putrajaya on Monday (Jan 8).

Shamsul Iskandar said he did not name anyone behind the Dubai Move in his police report.

“I’m confident that when statements are recorded, questions will be asked. Let the police investigate the matter,” added Shamsul Iskandar.

Shamsul Iskandar said he is confident that the Dubai Move is headed by several Opposition leaders, which he did not name.

“Their actions can create political instability, which will threaten the country.

“I’m requesting the police to investigate this movement that is clearly against Section 124b and 124c of the Penal Code,” added Shamsul Iskandar.

Section 124 of the Penal Code deals with activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy, which carries a punishment of up to 20 years in jail.

On Dec 30, Community Communications Department (J-Kom) deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop claimed that the Dubai Move occurred while opposition and government leaders were on holiday in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital.

Several Perikatan leaders have vehemently denied involvement in the purported plot. Still, Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor claimed that the Opposition had already obtained enough statutory declarations to form the new government.

Shamsul Iskandar also rubbished claims by Muhammad Sanusi that the Opposition had enough SDs.

“Maybe Sanusi thinks this is karaoke. But this is not entertainment. This is a serious matter and must be stopped to ensure the country can be managed,” added Shamsul Iskandar.

Meanwhile, when asked if Shamsul Iskandar had doubts about the authenticity of the Dubai Move, the former deputy minister said that was why he lodged a police report.

“I’m confident that with the multiple reports lodged, the police can take stern action,” added Shamsul.
