LIMBANG (April 10): Political stability and racial harmony in Sarawak remain the pillars enabling the government to implement development programmes across the region, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
He said the unity and mutual respect among the state’s diverse communities must continue to be upheld and safeguarded.
“With strong cooperation and mutual respect, the government is able to carry out development initiatives in a more focused and comprehensive manner,” he said at the Limbang District Aidilfitri Open House 2026 at Dewan Suarah Limbang on Thursday.
Awang Tengah said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leadership, led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, was able to concentrate its resources on development due to the state’s stable political environment.
Awang Tengah, also the state Second Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development and Minister for International Trade and Investment, said the government remained committed to safeguarding the welfare of all communities without marginalisation.
He also highlighted the role of family institutions in fostering harmony, noting that shared values such as mutual respect and tolerance would contribute to a more cohesive society.
Also present were Deputy Transport Minister and Limbang MP Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Sarawak Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, Limbang Resident Unus Tambi, political secretary to Sarawak Premier Awangku Jinal Abedin Dato Pengiran Jawa, Limbang District officer Sulaiman Engal and Limbang District Council chairman Sufian Mohat.
