KUCHING, Dec 3: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today announced a Special Financial Assistance, or Bantuan Khas Kewangan (BKK), equivalent to two months’ salary for all Sarawak civil servants.
He made the announcement during his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting.
“As a gesture of appreciation for their dedication and taking into account the second phase of the SSPA salary increase of seven per cent effective Jan 1, 2026, I am pleased to announce Bantuan Khas Kewangan amounting to two months’ salary, based on the latest basic salary of November 2025,” he said.
He added that payment of the BKK will be made this month, involving an estimated financial implication of RM131 million.
Meanwhile, the upcoming SSPA salary increase is expected to involve RM56 million in financial implications.
Abang Johari, who is also the Minister for Finance and New Economy and Gedong assemblyman (GPS-PBB), also extended his gratitude to members of the federal public service serving in Sarawak.
“We do not forget the contributions of our colleagues in the Federal Public Service. Therefore, I announce a one-off Special Financial Assistance of RM700 to all members of the federal public service serving in Sarawak throughout 2025,” he said.
This one-off assistance, costing RM98 million, will be paid in the first quarter of 2026.
The Premier expressed hope that both incentives would encourage public service personnel to continue strengthening service delivery to the rakyat.
In addition, as a token of appreciation for the service and contributions of Sarawak State Public Service retirees, the GPS government has agreed to provide a one-off financial assistance of RM500 per person, with a total allocation of RM50 million. — DayakDaily
