KUCHING: Sarawak leverages its abundant natural resources to generate clean, sustainable energy, aiming for a net zero future.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg highlighted Sarawak’s leading role in the energy sector, emphasising the use of diverse renewable sources: hydropower via cascading dams, solar energy, innovative power-to-gas-to-power (P2G2P) technology, biomass, and hybrid wind-solar systems.

“Sarawak’s diverse energy portfolio gives us a competitive edge, including autonomous power management and the ability to set tariffs.

“Our rich renewable energy resources enable us to offer competitive tariffs, attracting more investors to Sarawak,” he said at a press conference after the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council Meeting at PBB Headquarters here today (Jan 14).

He expressed gratitude to the Federal Government, particularly Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for entrusting Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, also the Minister of Energy Transition and Public Utilities, with spearheading national energy policies.

“This strong partnership between State and Federal Governments propels our energy sector’s growth, ensuring a more efficient and structured development,” he added.
