KUCHING, July 4: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg visited the Miri Smart City Command Center (MSCCC) today ahead of its official launch to review the facility’s readiness and its role in advancing Sarawak’s smart city agenda.
According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the Premier was briefed on the development and operations of the command center by Miri City Council chief digital officer Siti Suhana Rosli before receiving a presentation from Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) chief executive officer Busiai Seman.

Photo credit: UkasDuring the visit, Abang Johari toured the MSCCC Operations Centre and was introduced to the Bus Signal Priority (BSP) system through a presentation by KTT Sdn Bhd director Keith Chan.
He also viewed demonstrations, video presentations and exhibitions showcasing the command center’s digital technologies and smart city initiatives aimed at improving urban management through integrated, technology driven solutions. The Premier later proceeded to officiate the Miri Smart City Command Center.
The visit enabled the Premier and the accompanying delegation to observe the progress of the command center, which is among Sarawak’s strategic initiatives to strengthen digital transformation and smart city development in Miri.
Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, deputy ministers, Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, Miri Resident Galong Luang and Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam. — DayakDaily
