KUCHING, Nov 20: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has announced that the State will allocate RM10 million to establish the Sarawak Social Innovation Fund (SSIF).
According to the Premier, the Fund is to enable non-governmental organisations (NGOs), higher learning institutions, and private companies to undertake promising community-based and private sector-driven solutions that have evidence of results or outcomes in six priority areas.
“The six priority areas are economic and job opportunities; health futures and people’s wellbeing; youth empowerment and development; green and sustainable development; emerging technology adoption; and digital inclusivity,” he said when presenting the Supply (2024) Bill, 2023, also known as the Sarawak Budget 2024, during the Second Meeting for the Second Term of the 19th Sarawak DUN, which was held at the DUN complex today.
Furthermore, Abang Johari noted that The Fund, part of a Whole-of-Government approach to affecting change in society, also aims to promote public and private sector participation in solving socio-economic problems in a sustainable, effective, and efficient manner. — DayakDaily
