Premier: Sarawak aid details to be announced after upcoming Cabinet meeting

MIRI (March 29): The Sarawak government will announce details of assistance for Sarawakians after its upcoming Cabinet meeting, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said he had indicated during a recent meeting that the state would provide assistance to help ease the burden on the people following the increase in prices of goods and fuel.

“I have announced that there will be some assistance for the people of Sarawak. We will make the announcement after the Cabinet meeting,” he told reporters after officiating at the 60th anniversary celebration of SMK Long Lama at a hotel here on Saturday night.

Earlier on Friday, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) secretary-general Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the state government would soon announce measures to help cushion the impact of rising prices of goods stemming from the Middle East conflict.
