KUCHING, July 3: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to kick off the Sibu Division edition of the Sarawakku Sayang Programme (SKS)—to be held from July 10-12—with a motorcycle convoy from Batang Lupar to Sibu on July 9.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, Sibu Resident Superi Awang Said said the fifth edition of the programme embraces the concept of bringing the government closer to the people, making it easier for the public to access various government services without having to visit multiple locations.

“Previously, the focus was on bringing public services closer to the people. For Sibu Division, we are taking it a step further by bringing the government itself closer to the people, where government agencies come to the ground and service counters are no longer barriers between the government and the community.

“Through this concept, all these services are provided under one roof, allowing the people to access them conveniently,” he said during the Juh Randau programme produced by Ukas here today.

Thirteen programmes have been lined up during the Premier’s visit to Sibu Division, including a visit to a peatland area that is being developed to gain recognition from the Malaysian Book of Records as the peatland located closest to a city centre.

Apart from government exhibitions, visitors can also enjoy a variety of attractions at Sibu Kitchen, featuring 50 stalls comprising 30 food stalls, 10 stalls selling dried food products and souvenirs, and 10 beverage stalls showcasing Sibu’s iconic dishes such as kampua noodles, kompia, pulut panggang, and umai.

Superi added that the programme also provides local entrepreneurs with an opportunity to promote their products while obtaining information on financing, business development, and entrepreneurship support through dedicated clusters.

In the evenings, visitors will be treated to a Cultural Night featuring local artistes on July 11, while the following night’s Konsert Rakyat will showcase performances by professional international artistes.

To add to the festivities, members of the public who register via the QR code at the programme venue will have the chance to participate in a lucky draw offering 99 prizes, including 10 motorcycles, an electric scooter, electrical appliances, hotel stay vouchers, and food vouchers. — DayakDaily
