KUCHING: With the Para Malaysia Games (SUKMA) XXI Sarawak 2024 fast approaching, Deputy State Secretary (Operation) and Para SUKMA 2024 chief executive officer Datuk Hii Chang Kee has called on local supporters to turn up in full force to boost the spirits of the state’s athletes.
The prestigious national para sports event will be hosted at 10 venues across Kuching, kicking off on September 22.
According to Hii, the presence of enthusiastic supporters will play a crucial role in motivating Sarawak’s para athletes as they compete on home soil.
“Supporters should come in large numbers because the achievements of these para athletes are truly significant to them, as they are individuals with disabilities.
“Their success in sports holds deep meaning, and we should encourage and motivate them by attending in great numbers at all 10 venues.
“This way, they will feel that as para athletes, they are valued and treated equally, just like any other athletes,” he was quoted as saying during an interview at the Baitulmakmur 2 Building on Saturday.
Meanwhile, when chairing the first Chef De Mission (CDM) Meeting for Para SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 at Sheraton Hotel, here Hii expressed his confidence in the meticulous preparations being made for the event, assuring that Sarawak is ready to deliver a successful and memorable tournament.
He assured that key aspects such as accommodation, transportation, meals, and competition schedules will be managed efficiently, with top priority given to ensuring the athletes’ comfort and the seamless flow of events.
