Prompt actions by residents help extinguish fire

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Quick actions by residents have prevented a single-storey house from being completely destroyed in a fire at Kampung Sungai Mata today (June 19).

The fire, which broke out around 2pm, caused 35 per cent damages to the bedroom and living room.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported as the family of seven managed to evacuate safely.

Firefighters from Kota Samarahan station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call.

Upon arrival, they found that residents had already extinguished the fire using a fire extinguisher and a water hose.

The team only conducted inspections to ensure there was no risk of reignition before the operation concluded at 2.40pm.

The cause of the fire and the losses incurred are still under investigation.
