Pujut rep to serve as Miri mayor until 2027 following extension

MIRI (March 30): Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii will continue to serve as Miri mayor following the extension from this April 1 until March 31 next year.

This was informed by Miri City Council (MCC) secretary Abdul Rahman Taupek in response to media’s enquiry posed after the March full-council meeting on Monday.

Abdul Rahman also said the official notification on the extension was received on March 25 from the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak, with the official swearing-in ceremony currently being arranged.

“Tentatively, the ceremony is scheduled for April 5, with Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui expected to officiate at the event.

“However, we are still waiting the final confirmation from Dr Sim.

“Further details on the ceremony will be finalised once the confirmation is received,” he said.

Yii has been the mayor since July 26, 2016.

This extension would mark his 10th year in office.
