KUCHING, Mar 21: The Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 open house at Astana Negeri Sarawak today drew visitors from diverse backgrounds with religious leaders highlighting its role in fostering unity across Sarawak’s multicultural communities.

Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kuching Dato Dr Simon Poh described the event as a reflection of the governor’s unifying role in the state.

“Looking at the bigger picture, he is indeed the governor of all the people of Sarawak, of all races, religions, and cultures.

“Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar is our governor and he truly unites us by visiting our homes of worship and joining in our celebrations.

“May this spirit of blessing extend beyond Hari Raya, so that in all celebrations, we can continue to be friends and celebrate together as one family of Sarawak,” he said when met by reporters at the event today.

President of the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple Dato Shankar Ram Asnani praised the open house as an important platform for bringing communities together.

“It is important to have such gatherings, where people of different faiths, cultures, and racial backgrounds come together to celebrate Hari Raya. This is truly a beautiful thing,” he said.

The open house, held from 10 am to 3 pm, attracted a large turnout with visitors arriving early to join the celebrations in a lively and harmonious atmosphere, reflecting the State’s commitment to unity and multicultural harmony. — DayakDaily
