KUCHING, June 23: Bavaria’s expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) chip design and advanced technology could complement Sarawak’s unique resources and development strengths.
According to a press release, this was highlighted by Professor Dr Hussam Amrouch, Chair of AI Processor Design (AI-Pro) and founding director of the Munich Centre of Advanced Technology and AI Chips (MACHT-AI), under the Bavarian Ministry of Science and Research and the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs during a meeting with a Sarawak delegation led by Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, at the Siemens Technology Centre Garching in Germany today.
During the meeting, Hussam emphasised the Bavarian government and the European Union’s (EU) efforts in developing a sovereign AI ecosystem to support future technological advancement.
He also explored Sarawak’s strategic positioning and aspirations in the semiconductor and microelectronics sector, noting that semiconductor technology also represents a strategic area for collaboration.
The meeting also discussed the potential for collaboration in developing carbon-neutral AI through Sarawak’s renewable energy resources, alongside key areas such as open-source AI, green AI, AI chip, advanced semiconductor innovation, and next-generation computing technologies.
The engagement reflects Sarawak’s commitment to position itself as a strategic partner in the global technology ecosystem by leveraging its renewable energy advantage, strengthening innovation capabilities and exploring opportunities in high-value industries aligned with Sarawak’s future economic transformation agenda. — DayakDaily
