DARO (April 5): A total of 29 high-impact development projects worth RM10.53 million have been implemented in Kampung Baru here.
Daro assemblyman Dr Safiee Ahmad said the initiatives demonstrate that the village has not been left behind in the course of development since he was given the mandate as the people’s representative.
“This does not include the implementation of various projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) and the Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Programme (PPRMS), which have also brought significant benefits to residents,” he said, according to an Sarawak Public Communications Unit report.
He said this when speaking at the Aidilfitri openhouse at Kampung Baru on Saturday.
Elaborating further, Safiee said development in Kampung Baru also involves basic amenities and community infrastructure.
He noted that in its early days, the village only had a temporary surau, but now has a new and upgraded surau to provide greater comfort for residents.
In addition, he said a multipurpose hall has been constructed to cater for various community activities.
Safiee expressed appreciation to Kampung Baru residents for their commitment and cooperation in making community programmes a success, particularly in maintaining unity and harmony at the village level.
During the event, he officiated the opening of a futsal court, which had been proposed by village youths last year, reflecting the government’s responsiveness to the needs of the younger generation.
He also presented a total of RM20,000 in financial contributions to several local organisations, namely the Village Security and Development Committees (JKKKs) of Kampung Baru Hilir and Kampung Baru Hulu, as well as PPWS, to support community activities and local development initiatives.
Also present were Daro District officer Zul Usup, Public Works Department (JKR) Daro district engineer Faizol Hashim, Penghulu Abu Bakar Salleh, Penghulu Jebli Ngok, Kampung Baru Hilir community leader Hanim Ali, and Kampung Baru Hulu community leader Ladi Man.
