PETALING JAYA, Oct. 9: Muay Thai national champion Rifdean Masdor or better known as 'Magic Boy' is sure to defeat Japanese fighter Nadaka Yoshinari in the battle of ONE Samurai 4 in Tokyo on October 17.

To face the fight, the 23-year-old fighter underwent three months of intensive training in preparation for Nadaka's challenge.

Rifdean said he and the coach were studying his opponent's game patterns by also devising specific strategies to ensure that he was not caught up in Nadaka's fast and agile pace of battle.

"Hadaka is not like other fighters because he's very fast, agile and strong, so we can't take this fight easy.

"I'm going to focus on winning and not finding a knockout because if I chase it too much, I might get caught up in Nadaka's game pattern.

"So, I'm going to stick with the game plan that was devised with the coach and wait for an opportunity without being distracted by his pace of battle", he told TVS when he met him on Thursday.

Riffean came with a convincing reputation when he recorded seven previous victories, including five in a row, ahead of the crucial fight.

Commenting on the world title hunting opportunity, he said that he did not feel pressured to match Aliff Rakib's achievements by embracing the MUA Thai Interim ONE Strawweight World Champion title.

Instead, he wanted to create his own success in the atomic weight category.

"I'm not only in the best group of my category, I'm also ranked higher in the heavier category, so I'm looking forward to having this atomweight belt.

"My hope on October 17th, God willing I want to bring ONE belt for Malaysia and Sarawak", he said.

Rifdean now faces the biggest opportunity to cement his name in the international Muay Thai arena when a victory over Nadaka will pave the way for him to become world atomweight ONE champion. - TVS
