KUCHING (Aug 20): The Sabah Muaythai team concluded the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) by winning another three golds at the Paragon Mall in Bintulu today.
The triple gold showing saw the Muaythai team contribute the most gold with five to the state contingent in the ongoing Games.
Eva Anastasia Warren (women’s 45-48kg Duel) won 27-6 against Nur Farhana Alian Nazri of Penang to win the first gold of the day before Stacy Poong Dai Hee (women’s 54-57kg Duel) edged Nurul Najwa Abdullah of Perak 41-35 for the second gold.
Hellmi Samsir (men’s 67-71kg Duel) delivered the third gold against Sarawak’s Azhad Haziq Syafaat Abdul Khalid 26-15 in the last bout of the day.
Sabah also added a silver through Muhammad Rahmad Raman Ali Chandra (men’s 42-45kg Duel) after his defeat to Raja Izaffudin Petra Anuar of Perak 11-17 in the final.
Earlier, Yan Jia Chi (women’s Wai Kru Solo) and Jezzevelle Myora Jerry and Myra Arina Roslan (women’s Mai Muaythai Duo) delivered two golds for Sabah.
Others are two silvers from Asyraf Danial Abdul Latif/Marshall Jayden Jerry (Men’s Mai Muaythai Duo) and Muhammad Iktikharsyahlan As Roslan Zakaria (Men’s Wai Kru Solo) and a couple of bronzes from Nur Insyirah Mandol (women’s 42-45kg Duel) and Efron Jaidin (men’s 57kg-60kg Duel).
Sabah won five golds, three silvers and two bronzes to finish second overall in the Muaythai medal standings behind Sarawak.
