KUCHING, March 18: Sarawak continues to advance its school infrastructure, with 77 projects worth RM4.13 billion currently managed by the Education Works Branch (CKP) under the Public Works Department (JKR) Malaysia.
Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan said these projects cover schools at various stages of development across the State.
“Of the total, 25 projects are in the pre-construction phase, 23 are under construction, while 28 have been completed but remain within the Defect Liability Period (DLP),” he stated during a press conference at the Federal Integrated Administrative Complex (BGP) project site in Petra Jaya today.
Notable projects include SMK Demak Baru, which is in the pre-construction stage with an allocation of RM52 million, while SMK Tabuan Jaya, valued at RM6.99 million, was completed and achieved 100 per cent completion on April 23, 2024.
Ahmad highlighted that the scale of these projects demonstrates the federal government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening education infrastructure in Sarawak.
He added that entrusting these initiatives to JKR ensures meticulous planning, effective implementation, and strict quality control throughout the construction process. — DayakDaily
