ADVERTISE HERE
Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution IsmailBy Shikin Louis
KOTA SAMARAHAN, Nov 29: Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has highlighted the key role of Sarawak police in supporting Sabah during the elections, assuring that the move does not affect security in Sarawak.
He said Sabah’s police force, numbering 9,000, fell short of the 10,000 officers needed to ensure safe polling, given the state’s 1.7 million voters and vast terrain.
To bridge the gap, Sarawak officers were deployed—chosen for their proximity, rather than distant states like Melaka or Johor.
“All leave in Sabah has been frozen. The deployment ensures ballot boxes and election staff are secured from 8am to 5pm.
“Don’t worry—Sarawak remains peaceful. Our officers are only helping,” he told reporters when met at Sekolah Kebangsaan Dato Mohammad Musa here today. – DayakDaily
