KUCHING, Jan 9: A Sarawak documentary ‘Guardians of The Shore’ which tells the story behind the biggest marine conservation project in Borneo, has been nominated for the feature film/long documentary category at the 15th Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF) 2023.
The documentary by director Mark Nyambang will compete with 13 international documentaries from various countries, such as France, Germany, Russia, China, Italy, and the United States.
“(I’m) so happy that our documentary has been nominated for the feature film/long documentary category.
“What surprised me was that after reading through the list of the selected films, we found out that we were the only Malaysian documentary selected for this category.
“This is our first festival entry, but I hope it will pave the way for us to make more documentaries, especially those focusing on local environmental issues,” he told DayakDaily today.
The documentary was produced by Kayu Malam Productions Sdn Bhd—a fully owned Sarawakian company based in Kuching, Sarawak.
KLEFF 2023 will take place at IWK Eco Park@Pantai Dalam in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 17 and 18. — DayakDaily
