KUCHING, June 16: Runners are encouraged to lace up their running shoes and get ready for the Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run 2024, happening at The Isthmus, Kuching on August 11.
Returning for its 9th edition since its inception in 2013, this annual event is set to take place this August in conjunction with the Kuching City Day celebration.
According to a press release, Sarawak Energy said this event aims to foster a greater sense of community and pride among event-goers as they commemorate Kuching’s elevation to city status in 1988.
Sarawak Minister of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi has been invited as the guest-of-honour to perform the flag-off ceremony of the event.
Flag-offs for the run will be at 4.30am for the 21KM Half Marathon, 6am for the 10KM Run and 6.45am for the 5KM Run.
The top 15 finishers for the 21KM Half Marathon and 10KM categories can look forward to attractive cash prizes totalling up to RM39,000.
Meanwhile, 21KM Half Marathon finishers who complete the race within the 4-hour cut-off time will receive a finisher t-shirt.
Additionally, there is a special reward for the top 15 male and female finishers in this category, who will each receive an exclusive top 15 finisher’s t-shirt.
Proceeds from all registrations will be donated to charitable bodies to support those in need.
In 2023, the Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run raised a total amount of RM176,000 which was equally distributed to selected charitable bodies.
Supporters who want to be a part of this community event can also enjoy the carnival and food trucks at the event without registration.
