SIMUNJAN: The Sarawak Federation Women’s Institute (PPWS) in Simunjan District has been allocated a fund of RM35,000 to initiate a bakery project in the area.
Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee said the funds provided serve as the starting point for PPWS Simunjan to launch the project, aiming to boost the income of the local community.
“It focuses on how to improve the economy and provide education so that the community can break free from poverty,” she stated during the opening ceremony of Projek Bakeri Usahanita under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) recently.
Rodiyah noted that the SDG at the Parliamentary level has been instrumental in offering various assistance through small projects involving rural communities.
Through this initiative, she hopes that members of PPWS Simunjan can share knowledge and training on income generation with other women’s groups.
During the same ceremony, Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris encouraged successful food product entrepreneurs to expand their businesses.
He aspires for entrepreneurs in Simunjan District to market their products not only locally but also beyond Simunjan, attracting interest from visitors outside the area.
