KUCHING, 15 September: The Sarawak Forest Department is implementing a recruitment process involving 100 vacancies through 10 strategic service schemes to strengthen the capacity and organizational capabilities in state forest management.
Its director, Datu Hamden Mohammad said the move was taken to ensure a more effective delivery of services to the community and state.
"This acquisition includes various strategic positions, including Forest Preserver, Research Officer, Engineer, Power Strengthening Officer, Jurgeospatial, Assistant Forest Steward, Forest Supervisor, Power Strengthening Assistant, Designer and General Service Assistant.
"The presence of these new officials is a very important development as they are part of the next generation who will assume responsibility for Sarawak forest management in the future", he said.
He said so at the Sarawak Forest Department Emergency Service Awards Council (APC) Assessment Year 2025 and Award of Excellence Year 2026 here, on Tuesday.
Commenting further, Hamden announced that a total of 78 new officers had already reported as of 31 August last year, including 26 Management and Professional Group officials and 51 Executive Group employees to join the lineup of department workers.
At the ceremony, Sarawak Forest Department also celebrated 93 officers who received APC for Assessment Year 2025 and announced a special award to 53 officers who will officially end their service term this year.
"Each of these 53 officers brings with them their own stories, experiences and contributions, whether in the countryside, on administrative tables or in technical departments.
"Their contributions are united by a common goal of being 'Guardians of Forests' to ensure that Sarawak forests continue to be managed and preserved sustainably", he said.
To continuously cultivate high performance, he added the department has also implemented six categories of Department Excellence Awards since 2018 to motivate individuals and groups at Division, Unit and Regional Forest Office level.
