KUCHING (March 1): Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi graced the ‘Sungkei Anak Sarawak 2026’ event held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on Saturday.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the gathering brought together Sarawakians residing in Peninsular Malaysia to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan.
The ‘sungkei’ (breaking of fast) also featured the presentation of monetary contributions (duit raya) by Yayasan Sarawak to selected recipients.
“It is a demonstration of continued support for the welfare of students and the Sarawakian community living away from home.
“The organisation of this programme reflects the Sarawak government’s ongoing commitment, through Yayasan Sarawak, to strengthen community networks, safeguard the welfare of students, and foster a sense of family, while ensuring that Sarawakian youths continue to feel connected to their state even when living far from it,” the report stated.
