Sarawak honours 180 civil servants with Loyal Service Medals for dedicated service

MIRI, April 24: A total of 180 civil servants from 16 departments and agencies were honoured with the Loyal Service Medal in a ceremony officiated by the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Mega Hotel today.

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the ceremony marked the third presentation for this year and recognised officers from 11 state government departments and five federal agencies for their dedication and long-standing service to the public.

Among the recipients were several long-serving officers with more than 39 years of service, including Richard Jabon from the Sarawak Forestry Department (39 years), Lee Bu Chong (40 years), Kalanah Bagol (40 years), Felix Druce (40 years), and Nilan Taygng (41 years), all from the Miri City Council (MCC).

Recipients also came from a wide range of agencies, including the Miri Division Resident’s Office, Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR), Sarawak Forestry Department, Sarawak Irrigation and Drainage Department, and Sarawak Agriculture Department.

Others honoured included personnel from local authorities in the Miri Division, the Miri Port Authority, Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC), the Sarawak Registry Department, Immigration Department of Malaysia (Sarawak), Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Sarawak Health Department, and Sarawak Education Department.

The recognition underscored the government’s appreciation of civil servants’ commitment and loyalty in delivering efficient public service, while supporting the State’s continuous development agenda.

Earlier, the Premier performed Friday prayers at Masjid At-Taqwa Miri upon arrival from Miri Airport before attending the ceremony.

Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, state ministers, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, deputy ministers, deputy state secretaries, senior government officials, and department heads. — DayakDaily
