KUCHING (April 3): The Sarawak Immigration Department has detained 26 immigrants for allegedly breaching immigration regulations during Ops Selera, conducted from Wednesday to Thursday.
In a statement, the department said the majority of the detainees were found to be employed at food premises around the city.
Aside from eateries, enforcement officers also zeroed in on several gambling establishments believed to be operating covertly behind food outlets along Jalan Green.
“They were detained for various offences, including working without a valid pass or permit,” the department said.
The department added that firm action will be taken against any individual or business found violating immigration laws or engaging in unlawful activities.
“Such operations are essential to safeguard public safety and maintain order in the community,” it said.
