Sarawak, Kelantan explore collaboration on green economy, sustainable development

KUCHING (Nov 29): In a significant step towards inter-state collaboration, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki welcomed his Kelantan counterpart, Tengku Kaya Perkasa Datuk Dr Tengku Mohamed Faziharudean Al Hajj, at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex on Friday.

The 30-minute meeting, was also attended by senior officials including the State Attorney-General Dato Sri Saferi Ali, Sarawak’s Economic Planning Unit (EPU) director Datu Lester Matthew, Land and Survey Department director Datu Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood, and Forest Department Sarawak director Datu Hamdan Mohamed.

Mohamad Abu Bakar, in a Facebook post, said the discussion focused on sharing Sarawak’s expertise in implementing carbon trading initiatives and the state’s on-ground strategies for Reduced Impact Logging (RIL).

Both sides also exchanged views on governance, public service transformation, and efforts to strengthen forest sustainability policies.

Mohamad Abu Bakar also expressed his enthusiasm for the prospect of deeper collaboration between the two state civil services.

He stated that such partnership could unlock new opportunities in the green economy, sustainable development, and economic planning, ultimately benefitting the people’s well-being.
