KUCHING, 12 September: Sarawak will implement some improvements in Sarawak Megalanes, Batu Kawa to ensure the venue is ready to host the 2027 SEA Sports bowling competition.
Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Development Sarawak, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu said the preparations included upgrading facilities as well as associated signs.
He said that a test tournament will also be held to test the facilities, equipment and readiness of officers involved in the management of the issue.
"The venue for next year's SEA Games is Sarawak Megalanes, Batu Kawa. We will make a few improvements, including upgrading facilities and associated signposts", he said.
He said this during a media briefing at the Sarawak International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships (SIOTBC) 2026 here, today.
According to him, Sarawak has been identified by the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) and SEA Sports Selection Committee Malaysia as a bowling competition location on the theme.
"This early preparation is essential to ensure that venues, facilities and officials are in the best condition as well as meet the requirements of SEA Games 2027", he said.
