KUCHING (Nov 28): The Sarawak government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) to integrate the state’s digital identity platform SarawakPass, with the national digital identity system MyDigital ID.
The signing ceremony, held at Dewan Kenyalang in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex, was witnessed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki signed the MoU on behalf of the Sarawak government, while NACSA was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Ir Dr Megat Zuhairy Megat Tajuddin.
Sarawak Minister of Utility and Telecommunications Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, when met by reporters after the ceremony, said the MoU paves the way for full integration between SarawakPass and MyDigital ID.
He said the integration will enhance the security, trust and efficiency of the national digital identity ecosystem.
“Alhamdulillah, today is a very important day because the Sarawak Government and NACSA have signed an MoU to integrate SarawakPass with MyDigital ID.
“This is a strategic step that will bring significant benefits to the people,” he said, adding that the integration will not only improve the user experience but also strengthen the protection of citizens’ data.
SarawakPass, introduced in 2025, is an enhanced successor to SarawakID, which was launched in 2018 as a single sign-on platform.
With over 1.8 million registered users, SarawakPass now offers faster, more user-friendly and more integrated access to various state government digital services.
MyDigital ID was rolled out in 2019 and fully implemented in 2023 as the national digital identity platform for secure authentication across public and private-sector services.
It currently has nearly six million users, reflecting the expanding adoption of digital services in Malaysia.
The integration will allow SarawakPass users to access federal government services requiring MyDigital ID authentication, while MyDigital ID users will be able to access services supported by SarawakPass.
The integrated SarawakPass–MyDigital ID solution is scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2026.
