BAU, 12 September: Sarawak is planning the long-term direction of the state health system through Sarawak's Master Public Health Plan 2050 to ensure more comprehensive and responsive access to health services.
Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, said the plan will be a framework in strengthening access and sustainability of the state health system, as well as enhancing capacity to face future health challenges.
He said that Sarawak also funded the research and development of the plan using state resources as proof of government's commitment to developing a health system that meets people's needs.
"University of Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) together with international consulting firm KPMG was appointed by the State Economic Planning Unit (EPU) to conduct a study related to the plan.
"This initiative is expected to provide a solid foundation at the root level for health development in Sarawak so as to benefit people by 2050", he said.
He said this during his address to KHUAM KPT Prihatin MADANI 2026 Programme here, today.
He said efforts to strengthen infrastructure and health services will continue to be focused, especially to ensure that rural communities are not lagging behind in gaining access to quality health services.
He said the state health development is not just building facilities, but also involves the formation of a strong health ecosystem to ensure the well-being of Sarawak people for future generations. - TVS
