Sarawak, Slovakia explore cooperation in flood management, environment tech and AI

KUCHING: Sarawak and Slovakia are exploring potential cooperation in water and flood management, waste management, recycling, environmental technology, artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, and road management.

The matter was discussed when Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy call from the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Malaysia, Peter Spišiak, at the Premier’s Office, Satria Pertiwi Complex, Petra Jaya, here today.

According to a ‘Sarawakku’ Facebook post, the cooperation could be expanded through the participation of Slovakia companies with expertise and technology in the identified areas.

This could include online presentation sessions involving the Sarawak business community to showcase relevant technologies and explore potential areas of collaboration.

The sessions are expected to be organised in collaboration with the Sarawak Business Federation, as well as relevant Sarawak Government ministries and departments.

The initiative aims to identify business opportunities and technology partnerships between Sarawak and Slovakia, particularly in areas supporting sustainable development.

The courtesy call also provided an opportunity for both sides to strengthen bilateral ties while exploring new areas of cooperation, especially in technology and sustainable development.

Also present were Economic Planning Unit (EPU) Director, Datuk Ir Ts Awang Mohammad Fadillah Awang Redzuan; Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication’s (MUTS) Permanent Secretary, Datuk Jafri Lias; and Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development’s (MIPD) Permanent Secretary, Datuk Chiew Chee Yau.
