SIBU (Oct 10): The ‘Sarawakku Reading Carnival Series 3’ organised by the Sarawak State Library (SSL) here was held in Jemoreng recently.
According to SSL Sibu regional manager Fairul Azli, the programme was to instil an interest in reading and foster a culture of knowledge among the community.
“This programme could have a positive impact on producing a more knowledgeable and well-informed society,” he said in a statement.
The programme, Fairul added, was not only fun but also educated and encouraged Sarawakians to continue practising reading and learning, regardless of their age.
It featured ‘Pandei’ talks; community talk and workshop for the elderly; fun activities for children; as well as service and exhibitions from various government agencies and non-governmental organisations, such as the National Library of Malaysia, Mukah Public Library, University of Technology Sarawak (UTS), and Kolej Laila Taib (KLT), he added.
Fairul also expressed his gratitude and thanked visitors who attended the programme.
“Hopefully, this programme could produce a society with broad knowledge and become a pioneer for future generations with vision.”
