SARIKEI, March 13: A total of 19,924 residents in Sarikei district have benefited from the Sarawak Basic Needs Contribution (SKAS) programme, which received a total allocation of RM12.6 million.
In a TVS news, Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment and Kuala Rajang assemblyman Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the initiative demonstrates the Sarawak government’s commitment to ensuring that the fruits of development reach the grassroots level.
“In the face of rising living costs, assistance like SKAS, though seemingly modest, can make a meaningful difference to many families,” he said during the launch of the SKAS programme at the Kuala Rajang constituency at the Sarawak Government Administration Centre today.
He added that the programme reflects the Sarawak government’s care and compassion for the welfare of its people.
“This year marks the second year of SKAS implementation, guided by the government’s principle of prioritising the needs of the people,” he said.
Len Talif also expressed his appreciation to the Sarawak government for continuing the initiative to support those in need.
He emphasised that efforts will continue to ensure that Sarikei district, particularly the N41 Kuala Rajang constituency, is not left behind in the State’s development agenda.
“As long as the Sarawak government remains strong and stable under the leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), the welfare of the people will continue to be our top priority,” he said. — DayakDaily
