ADVERTISE HERE
KUCHING, Sept 13: All primary and secondary schools under the supervision of the Regional Education Office (PPD) Serian will operate as usual from tomorrow (14 September).
The decision was made by the Sarawak State Education Department (JPN) based on readings of Air Pollution Index (IPU) through the Official Portal of Environment Department (JAS) - Water Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) as at 12 noon today.
However, schools under the supervision of Lubok Antu PPD will continue the Teaching and Learning at Home (PdPR) session following the muddy conditions that are still affecting some locations in Sarawak.
JPN Sarawak said in a statement that the implementation of the PdPR was in line with the Malaysian Ministry of Education's 2016 No. 8 Broadcast Letter, Disaster Management and Learning Guidelines dated July 21, 2016.
"Any changes or updated information regarding the school's operations will be notified from time to time based on current circumstances.
"JPN Sarawak also stressed that the welfare, health and safety aspects of students are always given priority, especially in the face of hot weather or unexpected weather conditions", the statement said.
In the meantime, parents and guardians are allowed not to send their children to school if they are concerned about their health following a rainstorm.
However, parents or guardians should notify the absence of their child to the school.
JPN Sarawak said that it will continue to monitor the current situation and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety and well-being of education citizens in the state is always maintained.
The decision also highlights JPN Sarawak's approach that prioritizes the health and safety aspects of students in ensuring education process can be continued according to current circumstances. -TVS
