Senior citizen killed in car-SUV collision in Selangau

BINTULU (Aug 11): A 65-year-old woman was killed after the car she was travelling in collided with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) at Jalan Selangau /Tatau-Sungai Anus Sepiring, Selangau this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement identified the deceased as Dijah Lalei.

Bomba said firefighters from Selangau fire station were deployed to the scene after being notified about the incident at 6.29am.

“Upon arrival, firefighters found that a female victim trapped in a car while a male victim had managed to get out of the car on his own. Another female victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical personnel,” it added.

Bomba said the firefighters used a rescue tool to extricate the trapped victim and subsequently handed her over to the medical personnel for further treatment.

After ensuring that the road was safe for the road users, the firefighters ended the operation at 7.10am.
