KUCHING (Sept 21): Over RM21 million in total sales value was recorded during the Sheda Property Expo held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from Sept 6 to 8.

According to Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Sheda), 60 per cent of the properties booked were valued at above RM500,000, with over 22 per cent of the transactions being residential units.

It added that property buyers showed more interest in small officer-home office (SOHO) properties this year, representing 11 per cent of the transactions.

Expo organising chairman Steve Tan Chen Hang pointed out that Sheda understood the need for the expo to evolve to keep up with the increased expectations brought about by Sarawak’s digital revolution.

He highlighted that future expos might include a concurrent conference component to provide industry players a platform for exchanging ideas and knowledge, aimed at advancing the property industry within and beyond the state.

Additionally, Tan expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders who had contributed towards making the expo a success.

Moreover, he accorded a special thanks to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian who delivered the expo’s opening address on behalf of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Among those present at the expo’s opening ceremony were Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak Datuk Michael Tiang; Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni; and Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development Sarawak Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
