KUCHING: The recently concluded ‘Music and Words’ choral concert is not just about music. It also showcases unity through music.

In stating this, political secretary to the Premier Kho Teck Wan said the concert not only celebrated the talents of choral musicians but also exemplified a harmonious blend of music and traditions.

“Thus, this is truly showcasing not only the talents but the unity in music. Hopefully, one day we can also see a concert where the traditional music is played together with the modern music as well as songs are sung by different ethnicities.

“I believe those who make tonight’s concert successful can make it happen,” she said during the concert night held at the Chemsain Auditorium, Jalan Rock here.

She also said music could play a part in showcasing the essence of Sarawak to the world and this could be done through concerts.

“We have to remember, we (people of different races) not not only eat together, drink together, but also sing and jam together – this is how Sarawak is,” she said.

Meanwhile, the concert organised by Kuching City First Choir Association (KCFCA), stole the spotlight with its breathtaking concert.

It featured performances of the association’s flagship choir Jehté Chamber Choir.

Joining them were guest artistes, including The Band Lab and the Bung Bratak Cultural Group, along with solo and duet acts performing instrumental and vocal pieces.
