Dr Abdul Rahman further clarified that the decision to rebuild the Simunjan Agriculture Station would be guided by operational demands, strategic priorities, and the approval of allocation at the relevant stages.

KUCHING (Nov 28): The proposed construction of the Simunjan District Agriculture Office has been approved for implementation under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), said Sarawak Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development (M-Ficord) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.

The project, to be executed by the Public Works Department (JKR), received the greenlight after a thorough assessment of the area’s current agricultural infrastructure needs and development priorities.

“This listing takes into account current needs, the priorities for agricultural infrastructure development, and the feasibility of implementation within the allocation provided by the state government,” said Dr Abdul Rahman during a question-and-answer session at the DUN sitting.

In responding to Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris’ queries about the proposal to rebuild the Department of Agriculture Office and the Farmers’ Organisation Office in the district, Dr Abdul Rahman said the matter would be reviewed in stages.

He further clarified that the decision to rebuild the Simunjan Agriculture Station would be guided by operational demands, strategic priorities, and the approval of allocation at the relevant stages.

“The services provided by the state Department of Agriculture, including those at the Simunjan Agriculture Station, will focus on technical advisory services involving crop activities, inland fisheries, and agro-based industries.

“It will also include other technical advisory services such as plant disease management, farmer cluster development, modern technology training, input support, and monitoring of agri-food projects in the area,” he added.
