KUCHING, March 10: Two welfare homes in Kuching received blessings this Ramadhan as Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC), Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) and Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS) contributed RM10,000 to each home to support the children’s welfare and daily needs.

The contributions were presented to Kompleks Kebajikan Laila Taib (PERYATIM), represented by its general manager, Nurfiza Tahir, and Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah, represented by psychologist officer Rowena Rimbu Igau.

The presentation took place during an iftar ceremony held at a hotel here tonight, witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

A total of 40 children, 20 from each home, were also invited to the event, where they received duit raya and were treated to a special iftar banquet.

The event was jointly organised by SDEC, CENTEXS and DBOS as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, reflecting the spirit of generosity and togetherness during the holy month.

More than 400 guests attended the gathering, including government leaders, corporate stakeholders, strategic partners and staff, as the evening concluded with congregational prayers, including Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih.

The initiative reflects the organisations’ commitment to community upliftment while promoting compassion and inclusivity during Ramadhan.

Among those present were SDEC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, SDEC chief executive officer Dato Sudarnoto Osman, CENTEXS chief executive officer Dato Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abd Rahman, and DBOS chief executive officer Datu Laura Lee Ngien Hion. — DayakDaily
