BINTULU (Feb 27): The proposed construction of a covered roof at the assembly site of SMK Bintulu has secured funding under the Sarawak government’s Special Development Assistance Fund (SDAF).

Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang said the tender process is expected to commence within the next two months, with construction scheduled to begin in June this year.

Pang, together with representatives from relevant agencies, conducted a site visit at the school yesterday to review the proposed location and discuss technical aspects to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.

He said SMK Bintulu, which has a student population of over 3,000, currently lacks adequate space to accommodate large-scale assemblies and school activities.

“With the completion of the covered roof, the school’s facilities will be more comfortable, safer and more conducive for students and staff,” he said.

Pang expressed appreciation to the Sarawak government for the allocation and support, adding that he will closely monitor the project’s progress to ensure it is completed on schedule for the benefit of the students.
