SMT Sejingkat celebrates Form 5 students’ achievements

KUCHING: Sekolah Menengah Teknik Sejingkat celebrated the achievements of its Form 5 students in academics, co-curricular activities and character development at its 2026 Outstanding Students Appreciation Ceremony at SMT Sejingkat today.

Principal Chan Pek Ling said the annual ceremony was a meaningful occasion to recognise the students while bringing together teachers, parents, the parent-teacher association (PTA), and the wider school community.

“The presence of all our honoured guests today shows that students’ success is celebrated together and built together. I hold to the English proverb, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’,” she said in her welcoming speech during the ceremony.

Chan said the school had conducted various programmes, workshops and final preparation sessions to support students ahead of the SPM examination, with continued support from parents, the PTA and alumni also needed.

She said the school was hoping for all 177 SPM candidates to achieve success, with the students due to begin their Bahasa Melayu oral examination in 32 days.

“We hope that all 177 of our SPM candidates will achieve success.

“This success not only proves the academic excellence of the students, but also the competence of teachers in educating and the commitment of parents in providing encouragement,” she said.

Chan reminded the students that their achievements at the ceremony marked only the beginning of their journey beyond secondary school.

“Remember that this success is only the beginning of your journey in life. There are still many challenges ahead. Do not stop striving and do not become easily satisfied.

“True excellence is not only in examination results, but also in character, human values and the readiness to serve society and the nation,” she added.

Also present to attend the ceremony was Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
